Episode Title: Listener Questions On Stupid Long Races
Bio: Sara is an ultrarunner, wife, mother, and avid outdoorswoman. She is currently based in Kentucky, where she works as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Army Clinic at Fort Knox. Sara started running in high school but took a break during college, although her involvement in the ROTC and rugby meant that she maintained much of her running fitness during this “break.” However, the birth of her daughter in 2011 genuinely ignited Sara’s passion for running. Shortly after she gave birth, Sara joined a running club and fell in love with the community, the endorphins, and the person she was becoming. Although she lives in Kentucky right now, Sara has lived all over the world, from Effie, Minnesota, to Okinawa, Japan, and her favorite state is Washington. Sara has run quite a few marathons and ultramarathons, including the JFK50, Ragnar Trail Rainier Ultra, Run Across Georgia Relay, Bigfoot 20, Yeti 24-hour challenge twice, Defiance 50k, Cowtown 50k, and as a birthday present to herself, a Virtual Bigfoot 100k! In addition to running, Sara loves to spend time outdoors with her family and friends hiking, paddleboarding, and camping. In this episode of T4U Rob, Sara, and Neil will discuss the Tahoe 200, a race Sara will run with her “mental sponsor,” Rosa! As a Minnesotan, Sara’s favorite ultrarunner is Courtney Dauwalter, and her favorite T4U episodes are all the ones with Courtney.

Guest: Neil McManaway
Bio: Neil McManaway is an ultrarunner from Portland, Oregon, where he works as an engineer/project manager for a custom woodworking shop. Neil started taking his running and his health seriously in 2010. Unfortunately, like many eager runners, he developed an overuse injury. Still, he was not discouraged, and his solution was a small “hiatus” that involved lots of CrossFit and smaller races. Then, a trail-running friend of his got him hooked on ultrarunning by convincing him to run the Siskiyou Outback. In addition to numerous 50 k races, Neil has run the Oregon Cascades 100, Tillamook Burn 50 Miler, Mount St. Helens Volcanic 50, and the Elkhorn Crest 50. Neil is not only a great runner, but he is also a great bowler and once bowled a perfect game! He has also driven across the United States from east to west. T4U’s only question is, has he ever considered running across the United States from east to west? Neil is not much of a podcast listener, but he thoroughly enjoyed the Triple Crown series on Amazon! Part of Neil’s motivation for running the Tahoe 200 is to raise money and awareness for St. Jude’s, an organization dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer.
